Hartland, VT – A routine traffic stop on Henry Road late Friday morning led to a drug possession charge and multiple traffic violations, according to local authorities.
According to the Windsor County Sheriff’s Department, Sheriff Palmer stopped a vehicle around 11:36 a.m. after noticing it displayed registration plates assigned to a different vehicle at a residence on 58 Henry Road. During the stop, deputies conducted a consent search and allegedly found crack cocaine in the possession of passenger Anthony M. Crear, 52, of Lebanon, New Hampshire.
Crear was cited to appear in Windsor County Court on January 13, 2026, at 8:30 a.m., authorities said.
Deputies added that the vehicle involved in the stop was towed from the scene. The driver, who was not named in the release, was issued several Vermont Civil Violation Complaints, including no insurance, plates not assigned, and no valid registration.
The Sheriff’s Office reported that Windsor Police Chief Daniels, Officer Crane, and WCSD Deputies Keefe, Eisner, and McCabe assisted in the stop. Officials publicly thanked Windsor PD for their continued support and teamwork.
Residents in the Hartland and Windsor County area may notice increased traffic enforcement as law agencies continue to monitor registration, insurance, and roadway safety compliance.
