Bethel, VT – A New Hampshire man was arrested late Saturday night in Windsor County after deputies say he violated an active Abuse Prevention Order while parked along Peavine Boulevard in Bethel.
According to the Windsor County Sheriff’s Department, the incident began around 10:39 p.m. on November 29, 2025, when Sheriff Ryan Palmer investigated a suspicious vehicle near the Peavine Boulevard shooting range. During the stop, the sheriff made contact with 52-year-old James R. Bean of Merideth, New Hampshire.
According to deputies, Bean was allegedly in violation of an Abuse Prevention Order issued in New Hampshire that required him to remain at least 300 feet away from the passenger who was inside the vehicle he was operating. After confirming the terms of the order, Deputies Michayla Eisner and Craig Watrous responded to assist at the scene.
Deputies said Bean was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Hartford Police Department for processing. He was later cited to appear in Windsor County Court on December 1, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. Authorities said he was cited, processed, and released.
The sheriff’s office confirmed that court action is pending and noted that court dates may be subject to change at the discretion of the court. Officials encouraged anyone with questions regarding the case to contact the criminal court clerk for the most current arraignment information.
No additional details were released regarding the protected individual or the circumstances leading up to the traffic stop. The investigation remains active.
