Putney, VT – Two men are facing multiple drug and weapons charges following a fentanyl trafficking investigation tied to a trespassing report earlier this month in Windham County.

According to the Windham County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a trespassing call on November 8, 2025, at an address on Shag Bark Hill in Putney. When deputies arrived, they located a vehicle attempting to leave the property and identified two occupants as Michael Sykie, 45, of Charlestown, New Hampshire, and Joshua Snide, 40, of Chester, Vermont. Deputies reportedly observed drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle, and after both men refused a search, the vehicle was seized pending a warrant.

On November 14, deputies executed a court-approved search warrant and found several containers and a plastic bag with purple powder that tested positive for fentanyl. Investigators also discovered a small amount of cocaine and a loaded firearm inside the vehicle.

Sykie later turned himself in on November 20, 2025, and was processed for multiple charges, including fentanyl trafficking, possession of cocaine, and possession of a deadly weapon during a felony. Both men were also charged with violation of release conditions and unlawful trespass.

A court date has been scheduled for January 27, 2026.
