Windham County, VT – A routine traffic stop in Putney on October 15 led to the arrest of a local man accused of violating court-ordered release conditions, according to the Windham County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy Thomas Raymond reportedly conducted the stop around 2:41 p.m. on Bellows Falls Road near South Pine Banks Road. During the encounter, a passenger in the vehicle was identified as 28-year-old Cameron Johnson of Putney, who was allegedly in violation of his court-ordered release terms.

According to the sheriff’s office, Johnson was taken into custody without incident and transported to the department for processing. He was later released on a citation to appear before the Vermont Superior Court, Criminal Division, Windham Unit, on December 30, 2025.

No bail was set in connection with the charge of violating conditions of release. The sheriff’s office did not specify what prior case the release conditions were related to.

Residents traveling along Bellows Falls Road on Wednesday afternoon may have noticed law enforcement activity as deputies conducted the stop.
