Knoxville, TN – Strong winds will sweep across Tennessee, southwest Virginia, and portions of the Mid-South on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025, prompting multiple Wind Advisories from the National Weather Service in Morristown and Memphis.

In East Tennessee and southwest Virginia, southeast winds are expected to reach 20–30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph, especially along the Smoky Mountains and higher elevations of Blount, Sevier, and Johnson Counties.

Farther west, including Memphis, Dyersburg, Jonesboro, and Clarksdale, a separate advisory calls for northwest winds near 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph lasting through Wednesday night.

The gusty conditions may down tree limbs, cause scattered power outages, and create hazardous travel for high-profile vehicles. Residents are urged to secure outdoor items and use caution while driving.

Winds are expected to subside late Wednesday night as a cooler, more stable air mass moves in.
