IMPERIAL COUNTY, CA – A wind advisory is in place for Imperial County from Monday morning until early Tuesday, as southwest winds are set to intensify. The National Weather Service (NWS) warns that a cold front will bring gusts of up to 40-50 mph, peaking Monday evening.
According to the NWS, winds will start affecting the southwest corner of Imperial County at 5 a.m. Monday, expanding across the region by noon. The advisory will remain active until 2 a.m. Tuesday, with sustained winds between 20-30 mph and occasional stronger gusts.
Drivers, especially those operating high-profile vehicles on Interstates 8 and 10, are urged to exercise caution. The NWS advises that blowing dust may reduce visibility, creating hazardous travel conditions. Loose items left outdoors may also become airborne due to the wind strength.
