Wichita, KS – The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for central Kansas, affecting Barton, Ellsworth, Lincoln, McPherson, Rice, Russell, Saline, and Reno Counties. The advisory is set to remain in effect from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. CDT on Thursday.

Residents can expect sustained south winds of 25 to 35 mph, with gusts reaching up to 50 mph throughout the day. These conditions may result in blown-down small tree limbs and scattered power outages. Unsecured objects are also at risk of being displaced by the strong winds.

Drivers, particularly those with high-profile vehicles, should exercise caution on the roads, as gusty conditions could make travel challenging. Residents are encouraged to secure outdoor items to prevent them from being blown away.
