Sacramento, CA – The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for the Southern Sacramento Valley, Carquinez Strait, Delta, and Northern San Joaquin Valley. The advisory will be in effect from 11 p.m. Thursday to 11 p.m. PDT on Friday, October 17, 2024.

Residents in these areas can expect strong north winds ranging from 20 to 30 mph, with gusts reaching up to 55 mph, particularly across the Delta region. These high winds have the potential to blow down unsecured objects and tree limbs, which could lead to scattered power outages.

Travel may be challenging, especially for drivers of high-profile vehicles. The public is encouraged to exercise caution and secure outdoor items, including any holiday decorations, to prevent them from being blown away or damaged by the gusty conditions.
