Las Vegas, NV –Strong winds are expected across much of southern Nevada, southeastern California, and northwestern Arizona beginning late Monday morning, prompting multiple Wind Advisories from the National Weather Service in Las Vegas.
According to forecasters, south to southwest winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph are expected from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. PDT Monday across Death Valley National Park, the Western Mojave Desert, Morongo Basin, and parts of Esmeralda and Lincoln counties in Nevada.
A separate advisory covers Lake Mead National Recreation Area and nearby northwest Arizona deserts, where gusty winds will persist through 9 p.m. Tuesday, October 14. The strong winds may lead to localized dust storms, downed tree limbs, and hazardous boating conditions on Lake Mead and Lake Mohave.
The National Weather Service advises drivers—particularly those in high-profile vehicles—to use caution on desert highways, and for residents to secure outdoor items. Boaters should avoid open water during peak gusts.
