Wilson County, TN – Authorities in Wilson County are asking for the public’s help after a dog was found shot and seriously injured along Oak Grove Road last month.

According to the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office, on September 18, 2025, Wilson County Animal Control (WCAC) officers responded to a report of an injured small black dog wearing a blue collar. The animal was suffering from a severely damaged front right leg.

Veterinarians later determined the dog had been shot twice—once grazing its spine and another round shattering the front right leg at the elbow. X-rays confirmed bullet fragments were lodged in the leg.

WCAC officials say the animal is receiving care and that the case is being investigated as animal cruelty. A $500 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of whoever is responsible, with additional rewards from private donors.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office at 615-444-1412 or Wilson County Animal Control at 615-444-9775.

More details are available on the WCAC Facebook page.
