Ohio – Wet pavement and shifting winds are already setting the stage for a stormy stretch across southwest Ohio, with rain chances climbing steadily and stronger thunderstorms lining up by Friday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, scattered showers begin to build through today, with isolated thunderstorms possible after 2 p.m. Winds could gust past 30 mph during the afternoon, especially along I-71 and U.S. Route 68, where brief visibility drops and slick roads may slow traffic.
Conditions turn more active Friday. Showers become widespread by late morning, then intensify through the afternoon commute. Storms may produce strong wind gusts and bursts of heavy rain. Drivers in Wilmington, Washington Court House, and Hillsboro should plan extra time and avoid flooded low spots.
Rain continues into Friday night, then ramps up again Saturday. Models show an 80 to 90 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with breezy conditions making travel tricky. Expect standing water on secondary roads and reduced visibility during heavier downpours.
By Sunday, the system begins to move out. Skies gradually clear, and cooler air settles in, with highs dropping into the low 50s. That temperature swing could lead to slick spots early next week if moisture lingers overnight.
Looking ahead, calmer and milder spring weather builds by early next week, with sunshine returning and temperatures slowly rebounding.
