Wilmington, OH – Residents across southern and central Ohio could see isolated strong storms Friday, mainly southeast of Interstate 71, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington. The storms are expected to bring gusty winds capable of causing minor damage and travel disruptions.

According to the NWS forecast, a Marginal (Level 1) risk area covers cities such as Chillicothe, Portsmouth, and Lancaster, with scattered storms possible Friday afternoon and evening. The primary hazard will be damaging wind gusts, though brief heavy rain and lightning are also possible.

Forecasters note that while the severe threat remains low, any stronger storms could result in downed tree limbs or isolated power outages. Motorists and residents in low-lying or open areas are advised to secure outdoor items and monitor weather updates throughout the day.

Cooler and drier air is expected to move in behind the system by Saturday, bringing more stable conditions into the weekend.
