Wilmington, Ohio — Light snow is expected to redevelop tonight as a cold front moves through southwest and central Ohio, potentially creating slick travel conditions on major roadways.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, light snow accumulation will occur overnight Wednesday into early Thursday. While snowfall amounts are expected to remain generally light, widespread impacts are possible due to falling temperatures and refreezing conditions.
Probabilities show a high likelihood (70–100%) of at least 0.1 inch of snow across much of the region, including Dayton, Columbus, Cincinnati, Wilmington, and Portsmouth. The chance of 1 inch or more is lower but remains elevated north and east of I-70, including areas near Lima, Mansfield, and Zanesville.
Roadways most likely to be impacted include Interstates I-71, I-75, I-70, and I-74, along with U.S. routes US-35, US-23, and US-68. Bridges, overpasses, and untreated secondary roads may become slick late tonight as temperatures drop.
High temperatures Wednesday will briefly rise into the mid-30s to upper-30s, but overnight lows are expected to fall into the teens and lower 20s, increasing the risk of refreezing moisture on road surfaces.
The National Weather Service advises motorists to slow down, increase following distance, and remain alert for changing road conditions during the overnight and early morning commute.
