Wilmington, OH – A cooler and breezy day is setting up across southwest, central, and southern Ohio as temperatures fall 10 to 15 degrees compared to Saturday’s warmer conditions. Despite the drop, residents will see plenty of sunshine, though winds may make it feel a bit colder at times.
According to the National Weather Service Wilmington, skies will remain mostly clear today as dry high pressure settles across the region. Afternoon highs are expected to range from the upper 40s to mid-50s, with areas such as Celina, Kenton, and Marysville topping out near 48°, while Cincinnati, Maysville, and Portsmouth warm closer to 54°–56°.
Winds will be a noticeable factor throughout the day. Peak gusts between 25 and 30 mph are forecast, especially during the late morning and early afternoon. While these winds are not expected to reach advisory levels, they may make driving difficult for high-profile vehicles and could cause lightweight outdoor items to shift.
The cooler temperatures follow a mild Saturday, when many communities reached the mid-60s to near 70°. Today’s sharp drop is tied to a push of cooler, drier air behind a departing front. Overnight lows tonight will fall into the mid-30s, leading to a crisp start for Monday morning commuters.
Forecasters say the quiet stretch of weather will continue into early week, with mostly sunny skies Monday and slightly warmer temperatures expected by Tuesday. Winds should ease considerably after sunset tonight, providing calmer conditions heading into Monday.
No precipitation is in the forecast through midweek, giving the region several days of dry weather. Residents should still bundle up as breezy conditions combine with cooler temperatures, keeping wind chills on the chilly side throughout the afternoon.
