Wilmington, NC – Fall has officially arrived along the Carolina coast, bringing the coolest air since spring as high pressure settles in behind a departing cold front.
According to the US National Weather Service in Wilmington, Thursday will be sunny and pleasant, with afternoon highs reaching the lower 70s. Behind the front, clear skies and calm winds will allow temperatures to fall into the lower to mid-40s overnight, marking a noticeable drop from earlier this week’s warmth.
Forecasters say the dry, cool weather will persist into the weekend, providing ideal conditions for outdoor activities and fall festivals across southeastern North Carolina and northeastern South Carolina.
No rain is expected through Saturday, though early morning lows will stay crisp — especially in inland areas like Elizabethtown and Whiteville.
