As of early Tuesday morning, conditions at Wilmington International Airport were clear with a temperature of 35 degrees. Northwest winds near 12 mph were producing wind chill values around 26 degrees. Forecasters expect temperatures to fall further overnight, with lows near 27 degrees under clear skies.

According to the National Weather Service forecast, Wednesday will be sunny with a high near 52 degrees, marking a noticeable warming trend after the cold start. Wednesday night temperatures are expected to dip to around 34 degrees, remaining below normal for late December.

New Year’s Day will bring continued sunshine and milder conditions, with highs near 56 degrees and light winds. Thursday night lows are forecast near 35 degrees, followed by a warmer Friday with highs reaching approximately 59 degrees under partly sunny skies.

Changes arrive heading into the weekend. Friday night carries a 30 percent chance of rain, with mostly cloudy skies and lows around 44 degrees. Rain chances increase on Saturday, with the National Weather Service forecasting a 70 percent chance of rainfall and highs near 58 degrees. While no severe weather is currently indicated, wet conditions may impact travel and outdoor plans.

Saturday night temperatures fall to around 38 degrees, with lingering rain chances before conditions begin to dry out. Sunday is expected to be mostly sunny, with highs near 55 degrees and calmer weather returning to the region.
