Wilmington, DE – A Pennsylvania man was taken into custody Saturday night after allegedly driving under the influence along I-95 in Delaware, marking his sixth DUI offense, according to state police.

According to Delaware State Police, troopers responded at about 10 p.m. Saturday to the northbound lanes of I-95 near Marsh Road after receiving reports of a vehicle that had left the roadway and became disabled. Authorities said the driver, identified as 68-year-old David Tillman of Chester Township, Pennsylvania, was found standing beside a tan Ford Explorer.

Troopers recognized Tillman from previous encounters, including a recent DUI arrest, and observed signs of drug impairment during the stop. Police said Tillman declined to complete Standardized Field Sobriety Tests but was arrested without incident. A records check revealed he had five prior DUI convictions.

Tillman was charged with sixth offense DUI, driving while suspended, failure to have minimum insurance and inattentive driving. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $10,001 secured bond.

Authorities said this was at least Tillman’s sixth DUI arrest, with his latest charge elevated to a felony because of his prior convictions.
