Wilmington, DE – Delaware State Police have arrested 38-year-old Vernon Hines of Wilmington in connection with an organized retail theft that occurred earlier this month at Dick’s House of Sport in Wilmington.

According to Delaware State Police, the theft took place around 6:00 p.m. on October 13, 2025, when three suspects allegedly stole approximately $2,500 worth of merchandise from the Dick’s House of Sport store on Brandywine Parkway. The suspects fled in a Chevrolet Malibu with a Delaware temporary tag.

Responding troopers spotted the vehicle traveling southbound on Concord Pike near I-95. When officers attempted to stop the car, the driver allegedly fled into Wilmington, committing multiple traffic violations before abandoning the vehicle near E. 28th Street and Jessup Street.

Two suspects, identified as Kerryn Vinson and Taysha Bultran, were apprehended at the scene. A third suspect fled on foot with stolen merchandise. Following an investigation, police identified Vernon Hines as the remaining suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

On October 28, 2025, Hines was arrested without incident in Wilmington. He was charged with felony counts of Organized Retail Crime and Conspiracy in the Second Degree. After arraignment at Justice of the Peace Court 11, Hines was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $4,000 secured bond.
