Marion, IL – A late-night traffic stop in Marion led to a methamphetamine arrest early Friday, according to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said they pulled over a vehicle near the intersection of Carbon Street and Illinois Route 13 around 12:24 a.m. Friday. The driver, identified as Angelica L. Bruce, was informed of the reason for the stop. While deputies conducted their investigation, a Sheriff’s Office K9 named “Roxy” arrived and alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics, prompting a probable cause search.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies discovered a black backpack belonging to passenger Travis J. Webb. Inside, they found a clear plastic bag with residue believed to be methamphetamine. A further search allegedly uncovered four glass smoking devices and another bag containing suspected methamphetamine.
Webb was charged with possession of methamphetamine (Class 3 felony) and possession of drug paraphernalia (Class A misdemeanor). Deputies said he was transported to the Williamson County Jail.
Bruce was issued a written warning for disobeying a traffic control device, while a second female passenger was released after being searched. No additional contraband was found, authorities said.
The Sheriff’s Office thanked the Marion Police Department and Williamson County State’s Attorney Ted Hampson for their assistance. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office or submit a tip through the department’s mobile app.
