Williamson County, IL – A death investigation is underway in Williamson County after deputies discovered a body inside an abandoned residence near the intersection of Chittyville Road and Stiritz Road.
According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the scene at approximately 5:08 p.m. on Monday. Upon arrival, they located a deceased individual inside the vacant structure. Investigators have since developed enough evidence to classify the case as a homicide.
The Sheriff’s Office has requested the assistance of Illinois State Police Crime Scene investigators to support the ongoing case. The identity of the victim is being withheld until the family has been notified.
