Williamson County, IL – A New Year’s Eve crash in the Carbondale area led to an arrest early Thursday morning as deputies investigated a suspected alcohol-related incident involving a heavily damaged pickup truck.

According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 5:13 a.m. Thursday to Laurelwood Lane at North County Line Road for a reported single-vehicle crash. At the scene, deputies located a GMC pickup truck that had failed to negotiate a large curve, left the roadway, and struck multiple trees.

The vehicle sustained extensive damage, including a broken rear axle, indicating a high-impact collision. No occupants were found at the scene, raising concerns that anyone involved may have suffered serious injuries.

Investigators reported finding numerous open alcoholic beverages inside the truck and detected a strong odor of alcohol, prompting an alcohol-related crash investigation.

Authorities said the impact triggered an automatic 911 call from a cellphone inside the vehicle. Dispatchers tracked the phone’s signal traveling east from the crash location before it last pinged near Grand Avenue and Lion Drive. Mail and other items found in the truck helped deputies identify a nearby residence linked to the vehicle and phone location.

Deputies responded to the residence to check on possible injured occupants. An ambulance was staged nearby while contact was attempted.

At the residence, deputies encountered Ebony A. Bradley-Farr, who allegedly became belligerent and repeatedly interfered with the investigation by placing multiple non-emergency 911 calls. According to deputies, she refused commands to stop, leading to her arrest.

Bradley-Farr was cited for false 911 calls, a Class 4 felony, and resisting or obstructing a peace officer, a Class A misdemeanor. She was transported to the Williamson County Jail. Investigators say the crash investigation remains ongoing, including determining who was driving the vehicle.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office at 618-997-6541 or submit an anonymous tip through the Sheriff’s App.
