According to the sheriff’s office, deputies conducted a traffic stop around 11:05 p.m. Tuesday, December 24, at the intersection of Illinois Route 148 and Illinois Route 13 after observing a vehicle allegedly disregard a traffic control device.
The driver, identified by authorities as Gary M. Brown, was found to be operating the vehicle while his driver’s license was suspended. Deputies also discovered Brown had no valid driver’s license, and he was taken into custody without incident. A passenger, Leah A. Bean, was also inside the vehicle.
During the investigation, deputies conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle. Authorities say the search led to the recovery of methamphetamine, cannabis, and drug paraphernalia from both the vehicle and the passenger.
Brown was cited for multiple offenses, including possession of methamphetamine (Class 3 felony), possession of adult-use cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, no valid driver’s license, driving while license suspended, and disobeying a traffic control device, according to the sheriff’s office.
Bean was also cited for possession of methamphetamine (Class 3 felony), possession of adult-use cannabis, and possession of drug paraphernalia, authorities said.
Both Brown and Bean were transported to and remanded into custody at the Williamson County Jail. All charges are allegations, and both individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
