Joliet, IL – Eight K-9 officers with the Will County Sheriff’s Office will soon receive body armor, thanks to a generous donation from Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting police dogs.
The new protective vests, which provide both bullet and stab resistance, are expected to arrive within the next nine weeks. The donation will equip K-9 officers Cap, Lizzy, Loki, Malice, Riggs, Ryker, Shep, and Chase with state-of-the-art body armor. The vests will feature an embroidered sentiment noting the gift of protection provided by Vested Interest in K9s.
Will County Sheriff Mike Kelley and the K-9 handlers have expressed their sincere gratitude for the donation. Since its inception in 2009, Vested Interest in K9s has provided over 5,627 vests to K-9s in all 50 states, valued at nearly $7 million. The organization relies on donations to continue its mission of outfitting police dogs with lifesaving body armor.
The Sheriff’s Office plans to share photos of the K-9 officers sporting their new vests in the coming weeks, highlighting the positive impact of this generous donation. For more information on Vested Interest in K9s or to make a donation, visit www.vik9s.org.
