Wilmington, IL – The Will County Division of Transportation (DOT) will host a public information open house on October 16 to address safety issues on Wilmington-Peotone Road. The meeting will take place at Wilmington City Hall from 4 to 7 p.m.
The road, which stretches between Interstate 55 and Drecksler Road, has been plagued by accidents, including several fatal incidents in recent years. As part of the ongoing Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) Study, the open house will allow residents to review proposed solutions aimed at improving safety and infrastructure along the 22-mile corridor.
According to the Will County DOT, the PEL Study seeks to address growing travel demands and safety concerns. Public input from the October 16 meeting will help guide the development of alternative solutions to reduce accidents and improve road conditions.
Residents can attend the meeting in person or submit comments online after October 16 at the project’s website. Feedback submitted by November 6 will be added to the official event record. Special assistance will be available for individuals with disabilities.
