Will County Teen Shot and Killed in Joliet Township

Joliet Township, IL – A 19-year-old man was shot and killed in Joliet Township on Wednesday afternoon, marking a tragic event for the local community.

According to the Will County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a shooting at approximately 3:45 p.m. at the intersection of Luana Road and Girard Boulevard. The victim was reportedly shot while sitting in his vehicle. After being shot, he drove a short distance before exiting his vehicle in the 100 block of Girard Boulevard, where he collapsed.

Deputies found the victim lying on the ground and provided immediate aid until East Joliet Fire Department personnel arrived and took over life-saving measures. The teen was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

An autopsy will be conducted by the Will County Coroner’s Office to determine the exact cause of death. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family.

Detectives believe this was an isolated incident and are seeking public assistance in obtaining surveillance footage from the area between 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
