Braidwood, IL – A section of Route 113 between Essex Road and West River Road is closed this morning following a vehicle accident that occurred around 6:30 a.m., according to the Braidwood Emergency Services and Disaster Agency (ESDA).
Emergency personnel are on scene directing traffic and advising drivers to avoid the area until further notice. Motorists are urged to follow posted detours and the instructions of responders while crews work to clear the roadway.
According to Braidwood ESDA, Smiley Road between Essex Road and Route 113—near Braidwood Fire Station 2—is currently open and being used as an alternate route for east and west traffic.
Drivers traveling through southern Will County should expect delays throughout the morning commute. Officials have not yet confirmed the number of vehicles involved or whether any injuries were reported.
