Shorewood, IL – Drivers in Shorewood should expect detours and increased pedestrian activity this week as the village prepares for the 2025 Shorewood Holiday Market. Police have announced a multi-day road closure to support event setup, crowd safety, and vendor operations.
According to the Shorewood Police Department, Towne Center Boulevard—from Peyton Terrace to Wystone Drive—will remain fully closed to vehicle traffic until Saturday, December 6, 2025. Barricades have been placed at both ends of the affected stretch, and signage is posted to direct drivers to alternate routes.
The closure is required to support the return of the Shorewood Holiday Market, scheduled for Friday, December 5, and Saturday, December 6, at Towne Center Park. Village officials say the extended closure ensures vendors have enough time to set up tents, lighting, and displays while maintaining safe pedestrian access throughout the week.
The two-day holiday celebration features a full lineup of family-friendly activities, including:
• Santa & Mrs. Claus
• A tree-lighting ceremony on Friday at 5:00 p.m.
• Holiday shopping from local vendors
• Performances by the MCHS Madrigals
• Character meet-and-greets
• Photo opportunities
• Food and beverage options
• Live music
• Additional seasonal attractions
Police are asking residents and visitors to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and expect higher foot traffic near the park and village hall area. Drivers using Towne Center Blvd for commuting or errands will need to follow posted detours until the roadway reopens Saturday evening.
Village officials thanked the community for their cooperation and emphasized that the closure is essential to ensuring a safe and enjoyable holiday experience for families across Shorewood and the surrounding area.
