Channahon, IL – Five people were taken into custody Wednesday morning after a theft at an Amazon facility in Channahon led to two vehicle pursuits, a foot chase, and a drone-assisted search, according to police.

Police said around 11:09 a.m., witnesses reported several individuals loading large boxes into a U-Haul van and a silver SUV at the Amazon site on Amoco Road near South Bradley Street. Officers arriving at the scene saw both vehicles speeding away toward Interstate 55.

According to the Channahon Police Department, officers pursued the vehicles northbound as stop-stick tire deflation devices were deployed. The U-Haul became disabled near Briggs Street on I-80, where two suspects were arrested. The SUV continued until officers again deployed stop sticks, forcing it to stop nearby. Five suspects fled on foot; four were quickly detained, while one remains at large.

Authorities recovered more than $30,000 in stolen goods from both vehicles. The remaining suspect is described as a Black male with long dreadlocks.

Those in custody include Raequan T. Williams, Shaquetta M. Capps, Stephaun L. Dennis, Malcom J. Meeks, and Aqeel S. Bell, all from the Chicago area. Each faces charges of theft, resisting or obstructing a peace officer, and aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude police.

All five were transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility. Police said the investigation remains active and the information is preliminary.
