Shorewood, IL – Two homes in Shorewood were damaged by gunfire early Tuesday morning, according to local police. No injuries were reported.

According to the Shorewood Police Department, the first call came in around 4:50 a.m. on September 16 after officers responded to the area of Ca-Crest Drive and Highland Drive for reports of gunshots. Officers searched the area but did not find any evidence.

At 6:50 a.m., a second call was received from the 500 block of Bethany Drive. Officers said the residence had been struck three times by what appeared to be a small-caliber firearm. The residents inside were unharmed.

Later, while conducting a neighborhood canvas, police received another report from a resident in the 500 block of Northgate Lane. The resident said they heard a loud noise before 5 a.m. Upon inspection, damage from a single gunshot was found at the home.

Investigators said evidence from both homes indicates the same firearm was likely used in both incidents, pending confirmation by lab testing. Police noted the homeowners are not connected to each other and have no known affiliations.

The Shorewood Police Department is asking nearby residents to review security camera footage and contact investigators at (815) 725-1460 with any information. The case remains active and under investigation.
