Joliet Township, IL – Two men were injured and one suspect is facing felony charges after a shooting in Joliet Township on Tuesday morning, September 30.
According to the Will County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched at approximately 11:45 a.m. to the 1400 block of Elgin Avenue following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers found a 66-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. Emergency responders with the East Joliet Fire Protection District provided medical aid before transporting him to a local hospital.
Deputies also discovered a second man at the scene who had sustained stab wounds. His condition has not been disclosed.
Following the initial investigation, detectives charged 25-year-old Maximiliano Lara with aggravated battery and use of a deadly weapon, a felony. Authorities noted that additional charges may be forthcoming as the case develops.
The Will County Sheriff’s Office emphasized that it remains committed to a thorough investigation and will continue to release updates as more information becomes available.
The sheriff’s office has not released further details about the circumstances of the altercation or the conditions of the victims.
