Witness describes vehicle with front passenger-side damage near headlight

Channahon, IL – Police are asking for the public’s help after a hit-and-run Saturday evening left a family without their dog in Channahon.

According to the Channahon Police Department, officers responded around 6:42 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025, to reports of a vehicle striking a dog on S. Center Street, between W. Pine Street and W. Bluff Street. The vehicle involved fled the scene before police arrived.

Witnesses told investigators the vehicle was a black pickup truck traveling northbound on S. Center Street toward Route 6. The truck is believed to have light front passenger-side damage near the headlight, police said.

Authorities are urging anyone with home security or dashcam footage from the area to review it for possible leads. “Any information provided will be appreciated by Channahon PD and the owners of our lost friend,” the department said in a statement.
