New Lenox, IL – A 35-year-old man has been arrested following an incident that began with reports of a suspicious person crawling through a New Lenox neighborhood earlier this month, police said Wednesday.
According to the New Lenox Police Department, officers were called to the area of Bluestone Bay Drive and Westwind Drive around 2:04 p.m. on October 1, 2025, after a caller reported seeing a man moving on his hands and knees into nearby woods. When officers arrived, they located a male matching the description, later identified as Michael R. Kadar of New Lenox.
Police say Kadar allegedly ran from officers, removed his shirt, and entered a home on Bimini Lane through an open garage, where he was confronted by the homeowner. The suspect reportedly obtained a metal bar from the garage and threw it at the resident before fleeing. Officers later detained him after a short pursuit.
Authorities said it appeared Kadar was experiencing a medical episode, and he was transported to Silver Cross Hospital for evaluation. He was not arrested at the time due to his medical condition.
Detectives later identified Kadar and obtained a warrant on October 3, 2025, charging him with Residential Burglary (Class 1 Felony), Criminal Trespass to Residence (Class A Misdemeanor), and Criminal Damage to Property (Class A Misdemeanor).
Kadar was taken into custody by New Lenox police on October 9, 2025, after being medically cleared from a care facility.
