Lockport, IL – Fire crews responded early Sunday morning to a reported structure fire at the Panduit manufacturing facility in Lockport, officials said. The blaze broke out shortly before 1 a.m. in the 16500 block of 163rd Street.

According to the Lockport Township Fire Protection District, initial crews were directed by Lockport police to the west side of the building, where flames were reported in the production area. Interior conditions initially made it difficult for firefighters to locate the source of the fire, but they were able to isolate the affected unit and bring it under control.

The fire was contained before it could spread further, and all employees evacuated safely. No injuries were reported, according to Deputy Chief James Grady IV.

The incident was upgraded to a general alarm, prompting mutual aid from neighboring departments in Bolingbrook, Homer, Lemont, and Northwest Homer, which assisted with district coverage during the response.

The building was later turned back over to maintenance personnel, and the affected production unit remains shut down for inspection.
