Joliet, IL – Police in Joliet are investigating a serious incident after an individual was struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of Walmart located at 2424 West Jefferson Street on Tuesday afternoon, according to a post from the Joliet Police Department.

The incident occurred around 2:40 p.m., when officers responded to reports of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle. The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, police said. The extent of the injuries has not been released.

Authorities have asked the public to avoid the area as traffic investigators reconstruct the scene. Police emphasized that keeping the area clear allows first responders to work safely and without interruption.

The department noted that this remains an active investigation, and additional details will be released as they become available.

Motorists should expect temporary closures or delays near the Walmart entrance on West Jefferson Street while the investigation continues.
