Will County, IL: Joliet Township Hostage Situation Ends With Arrest Monday

oliet Township, IL – A man is in custody after Will County Sheriff’s deputies freed two alleged hostages from a residence in the 700 block of Pontiac Street on Monday afternoon.

According to the Will County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 1:38 p.m. to a 911 call reporting two individuals were being held inside a home. Upon arrival, a distressed woman was seen standing in the doorway and was able to exit safely. Moments later, a man fled from the residence. Both victims told deputies that a male relative had allegedly been holding them at gunpoint with a loaded handgun.

Authorities said that about 90 seconds after the male victim escaped, the suspect, identified as 46-year-old George H. Hall, exited the home and was taken into custody without incident. A search of the residence allegedly revealed a loaded 9mm handgun with a defaced serial number.

Hall was transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility, where he faces initial charges including two counts of aggravated unlawful restraint (felony), one count of possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number (felony), one count of unlawful use or possession of a firearm by a felon (felony), and one count of illegal possession of ammunition/FOID (misdemeanor).

Deputies reported that no injuries occurred during the incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
