Lockport, Illinois – A warehouse fire in Lockport triggered a full emergency response Monday evening, but a sprinkler system activation prevented major damage and allowed the business to reopen within days.
According to the Homer Township Fire Protection District, crews responded at 6:13 p.m. Monday to a fire alarm at a warehouse on John Lane Crossing. Upon arrival, firefighters found no visible flames from the exterior, but gained entry and discovered a fire that had largely been extinguished by the building’s sprinkler system.
The incident was upgraded to a full still alarm due to the size of the structure, with additional resources called in to ensure the fire had not spread. Crews remained on scene for about three hours, ventilating smoke and working with property management to assess the situation.
Officials confirmed no occupants were inside at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. The cause was later determined to be accidental.
The business resumed partial operations Tuesday and returned to normal activity by Wednesday.
