Will County, IL – Death of Joliet Fire Captain Shocks Community

Joliet, IL – The Joliet community is mourning the sudden loss of Fire Department Captain Kevin Hargis, a 22-year veteran, who passed away at his home on Saturday. He was 52 years old.

According to the Will County Coroner Laurie H. Summers, Hargis, a Plainfield resident, was pronounced deceased at 9:15 a.m. on June 29. An autopsy was performed the following day, with final results pending additional reports.

Captain Hargis held numerous roles within the Joliet Fire Department, including leading the Hazardous Materials Team and serving as a CPR instructor and paramedic. His extensive certifications and dedication to service have left a significant impact on his colleagues and the community.

The Joliet Fire Department and various local firefighter unions have expressed deep sorrow and respect for Hargis, highlighting his leadership and passion for helping others. The community is urged to keep his family and friends in their thoughts during this difficult time.
