Joliet, IL — Families and book lovers can stock up on free reading material this weekend at Pilcher Park Nature Center in Joliet during a special book reuse event.

According to Will County Green and Pilcher Park staff, the free book giveaway runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday — May 30, 31 and June 1 — from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is being held at the nature center, located at 2501 Highland Park Drive.

The program is part of Will County’s effort to reduce waste by helping people reuse books instead of throwing them away. Tables inside the nature center are filled with thousands of books, including kids’ books, novels, nonfiction titles and more. Visitors can take as many books as they want at no cost.

The event is open to the public and does not require registration. Organizers say the goal is to keep books in use while giving people a chance to read something new.

The Book Reuse & Recycling Event is part of the county’s ongoing mission to encourage sustainable habits in the community.
