Will County, IL – A Homer Glen man was arrested Sunday morning after allegedly firing multiple gunshots near his residence and later resisting deputies during his arrest, according to the Will County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded around 7:35 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 28, to the 16100 block of Twin Oak Court following reports of gunfire. A nearby neighbor told deputies they heard shots coming from the suspect’s home and observed erratic behavior before the incident.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies arriving at the scene heard roughly thirteen shots coming from the area. A perimeter was established, and residents were asked to shelter in place. Members of the Will County SWAT and Crisis Negotiations teams were also called to assist.
Deputies later located the suspect, identified as Michael Farrell, 52, who allegedly refused commands and acted aggressively before being subdued with a taser. Authorities say Farrell resisted arrest, at one point striking a deputy before being taken into custody.
After the arrest, investigators searched the home and found shell casings, damage from gunfire, and several firearms, including a handgun in plain sight. Additional firearms and ammunition were later recovered through a search warrant.
Farrell was treated at a local hospital before being booked into the Will County Adult Detention Facility. He faces charges of Reckless Discharge of a Firearm and Aggravated Battery of a Police Officer.
