Will County, IL: 27-Year-Old Charged After Drug Bust on Garnsey Avenue Thursday Morning

Joliet, Illinois – A large-scale police operation shut down part of a Joliet neighborhood Thursday morning as officers executed a narcotics search warrant that led to an arrest and the seizure of drugs and a firearm.

According to the Joliet Police Department, the raid unfolded around 9 a.m. in the 400 block of Garnsey Avenue. Multiple units responded, including the Tactical Unit, Special Operations Squad, Crisis Negotiation Team, K9 Unit, and Neighborhood Policing Team. Authorities made initial contact with several occupants inside the home, and the suspect was detained without incident.

Investigators identified the suspect as 27-year-old Sebastian Gates, who was taken into custody at the scene. During a search of the residence, officers recovered a handgun, ammunition, and suspected MDMA.

A brief shelter-in-place was issued for nearby residents as a precaution while officers secured the area. No injuries were reported.

Gates now faces multiple charges, including possession of a controlled substance, aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, and ammunition violations. He was transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
