Cincinnati, OH – Multiple Special Weather Statements have been issued by National Weather Service offices across the Ohio Valley, warning residents of gusty winds, rapidly falling temperatures, and slick roads developing tonight into Thursday, December 11th.

Ohio and Indiana:

The NWS Wilmington (OH) reports wind gusts of 35 to 45 mph across southwest and central Ohio, southeast Indiana, and northern Kentucky this afternoon. As rain changes to snow later today, roads may quickly become slick or icy, especially on bridges and overpasses. Snow accumulations will be less than a quarter-inch, but re-freezing moisture will pose a travel hazard overnight.

Further north, the NWS Cleveland (OH) warns that temperatures will plummet into the upper 20s behind a cold front, with a brief burst of snow producing a light coating on untreated roads. Drivers are advised to allow extra travel time and use caution this evening.

Kentucky:

The NWS Jackson (KY) expects strong southwest to west winds gusting up to 35 mph, shifting behind a cold front tonight. Rain will change to light snow, with up to ½ inch possible, and isolated heavier bursts may briefly reduce visibility.

Meanwhile, the NWS Louisville (KY) highlights ongoing gusty winds of 35–40 mph across central and southern Kentucky today as the same storm system moves through the lower Great Lakes.

Indiana:

The NWS Indianapolis (IN) is forecasting accumulating snow late Thursday night into Friday morning, particularly between Interstates 70 and 74, where 3–5 inches of snow may fall. Confidence in accumulating snowfall is increasing, with winter weather advisories possible as the system develops.
