From the Pacific waters off Washington and Oregon to the Atlantic seaboard from New Jersey to Maine, forecasters warn of dangerous marine conditions that could capsize small vessels and severely impact navigation.

  • 🌊 West Coast: Gale Warnings remain in effect for the Strait of Juan de Fuca and coastal waters from Cape Flattery to Cape Shoalwater, where winds of 35–40 kt and 13 ft seas are expected through Wednesday night.
  • 🌬 East Coast: Gale-force winds are forecast for Long Island Sound, New Jersey, and New England coastal waters, with gusts up to 45 kt and 10 ft seas through Friday.
  • 🌪 Gulf of Tehuantepec (Mexico): Offshore forecasts call for N–NE winds 25–35 kt and 11 ft seas, with another gale possible Sunday night.
  • 🌊 Great Lakes & Lake Erie: Winds up to 40 kt continue through Wednesday evening, with water level drops and 11 ft waves possible due to seiche effects.

Mariners are strongly urged to remain in port, secure vessels, and avoid open waters during these hazardous conditions. Visibility may also be reduced by spray and high seas.

The NWS advises that individual wave heights may be twice the reported significant wave height, posing additional risk to small craft.
