Wichita, KS – Much of central and southern Kansas remains under a Wind Advisory through 6 p.m. Saturday, as northwest winds up to 45 mph continue to impact the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Wichita, sustained winds of 25 to 30 mph with gusts nearing 45 mph are creating hazardous conditions across counties from Russell to Labette, including major cities such as Wichita, Salina, Hutchinson, El Dorado, and Great Bend.

The strong winds are expected to persist through the afternoon before gradually diminishing this evening. Forecasters caution that loose outdoor items may be blown around, and minor tree damage or isolated power outages are possible. Drivers, especially those operating high-profile vehicles, should use extra caution on open roads and highways due to crosswinds and blowing dust.

Residents are advised to secure outdoor furniture, decorations, and trash bins to prevent damage or debris hazards.
