Wichita, Kan. – Low-end thunderstorm chances return to parts of Kansas this weekend, with isolated storms possible as early as Friday night and continuing into Sunday, especially across southeast and central regions.
According to the National Weather Service in Wichita, areas near the Oklahoma border may see lingering storms early Friday, while central Kansas—including Wichita—faces a 30% chance of evening thunderstorms. That pattern of spotty storm activity will persist through Saturday night and Sunday, though most locations are expected to remain dry.
Temperatures across the region will stay hot and humid, with highs ranging from the upper 80s to lower 90s. Overnight lows will hover in the upper 60s, adding little relief from the heat. Brief downpours and lightning are possible with any isolated storm, but severe weather is not currently anticipated.
Drivers should be alert for sudden rainfall, especially during evening hours. Residents are advised to secure outdoor items and monitor alerts in case of quick-developing cells.
Storm chances remain at 20–30% through Sunday evening. Another weather update is expected by late Saturday as forecasters continue to monitor storm development.
