Wichita, KS – A breezy and sunny start to the week will transition into mild, calm fall weather across Kansas through midweek, according to the US National Weather Service Wichita.

Forecasters say a cold front moving through the state today will bring northwest winds across western and central Kansas and southwest winds further south. Wind gusts may reach 25 to 35 mph, especially in open areas and along I-135. Despite the breeze, skies will remain mostly sunny with highs in the low to mid-70s.

By Tuesday and Wednesday, conditions will settle into a quiet, seasonal pattern with abundant sunshine and highs ranging from the upper 60s north to mid-70s south. Lows will cool into the 40s each night, typical for late October.

The rest of the week looks mostly dry, with a slight warm-up midweek before another weak front arrives by the weekend.

Drivers and farmers are encouraged to secure loose items today as gusty winds persist through late afternoon.
