Wichita, KS – Rain chances will rise sharply this evening across central, south-central, and southeast Kansas as a batch of showers spreads from west to east, according to the National Weather Service in Wichita.
According to the agency, rain will begin increasing after sunset, with widespread chances ranging from 45% to more than 80% through Monday morning. Cities including Topeka, Emporia, Chanute, Coffeyville, Winfield, and Wichita will see elevated chances for rainfall between 6 p.m. Sunday and 6 p.m. Monday.
Off-and-on showers are expected through early Monday evening before precipitation gradually tapers overnight. Monday’s highs will fall into the mid-50s to low-60s, slightly cooler than Sunday’s readings, with lows dipping into the upper 30s to upper 40s by Monday night.
By Tuesday, a shift toward cooler and drier air will take hold. Breezy conditions are expected, and highs will settle into the low-50s to low-60s across the region. Sunshine should increase as the front moves east, ending the unsettled stretch.
Travelers should be prepared for periods of wet roads tonight through Monday morning, though severe weather is not expected. The moisture will be beneficial for parts of Kansas that have seen extended dry spells this fall.
