Wichita, Kansas – A stretch of cooler, wetter weather will settle over Kansas starting Thursday, with scattered thunderstorms and highs hovering in the low 80s through Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service in Wichita, a weak cold front will move into the region Thursday, bringing a 30% chance of afternoon storms and daytime highs between 77°F and 84°F. Temperatures will dip further Friday, with lows near 60°F and cloudy skies keeping highs in the upper 70s to low 80s.

Wichita, Hutchinson, and Salina will feel the temperature drop most noticeably overnight, as lows fall into the upper 50s and low 60s through Saturday. While Saturday looks mostly dry, Sunday brings another round of thunderstorms, with a 40% chance of rain and highs climbing slightly to 87°F.

Residents should plan for intermittent rain, reduced visibility on highways like I-135 and U.S. Route 54, and localized ponding on roads during heavier downpours. It’s a good time to charge devices and secure outdoor furniture before storms roll through.

Conditions are expected to stabilize early next week, but storm chances remain possible Sunday night. Stay tuned to the NWS for updated alerts.
