Wichita, Kansas — Sharp temperature swings this weekend could bring near-zero wind chills to Wichita by early Sunday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Wichita, Friday will remain windy, with afternoon highs ranging from 41 to 48 degrees and overnight lows between 15 and 22 degrees. Winds will add a chill, especially during the evening hours.
The coldest day of the weekend will be Saturday, when highs are forecast to reach only 27 to 35 degrees. Overnight temperatures Saturday night are expected to fall to 8 to 12 degrees, setting the stage for very cold wind chills early Sunday.
Forecasters said wind chill values around 0 degrees are expected across much of the Wichita area Sunday morning, particularly before sunrise. Prolonged outdoor exposure during that time could become uncomfortable quickly without proper cold-weather clothing.
Conditions moderate later Sunday, with highs rebounding to 41 to 51 degrees, though breezy winds will continue. Temperatures cool again Monday, with highs in the 33 to 39 degree range.
No winter precipitation is expected, but the National Weather Service emphasized that wind and cold alone may pose a risk, especially for those spending extended time outdoors.
This forecast is especially relevant for early-morning commuters, outdoor workers, and weekend travelers, as the coldest conditions will occur during overnight and early morning hours.
