Wichita, KS – After a warm and breezy Thursday, stormy weather is expected to move into central and southern Kansas late Friday night into Saturday morning, with strong thunderstorms possible in parts of the region.

According to the US National Weather Service in Wichita, highs will climb into the low to mid-80s today under mostly sunny skies, with strong south winds gusting up to 30 mph. A cold front approaching from the west will trigger showers and thunderstorms after sunset Friday, continuing into early Saturday morning, mainly across southeast Kansas.

Some storms could become strong, producing gusty winds and small hail, though widespread severe weather is not expected. Conditions will dry out Saturday afternoon, followed by cooler, sunny weather Sunday, with highs returning to the upper 60s.
