Wichita, KS – Residents across Kansas should be prepared for more unsettled weather as showers and thunderstorms are expected to redevelop this afternoon and evening, with rain chances continuing into early next week.

According to the US National Weather Service Wichita office, storms will remain in the forecast through Monday, September 22, with scattered chances across much of the state. The best chances for widespread rainfall are expected Monday in southeast Kansas.

Overnight lows Friday into Saturday will dip into the low to mid-60s across central and eastern Kansas, with cities including Wichita, Emporia, and Hutchinson all near 63 to 65 degrees. Highs this weekend will stay seasonable, ranging from the upper 70s to low 80s.

Saturday afternoon may bring isolated showers and storms, particularly in central Kansas. On Sunday, cloud cover and scattered thunderstorms are expected to keep temperatures cooler, with highs mainly in the upper 70s. By Monday, a stronger chance of thunderstorms develops in southeast Kansas, where residents could see periods of heavy rainfall.

The unsettled weather pattern is forecast to linger into next week, but no severe threats have yet been highlighted. Drivers and outdoor planners should prepare for wet roads and possible brief delays through the weekend.
